Introduction
As children grow, there are times when they may be away from their parents. They may travel to school, attend classes, visit friends, participate in activities or gradually begin travelling independently.
Most of these journeys are completely normal. But parents often have one important question in mind: what if my child suddenly needs help and I am not there?
In such a situation, one of the most useful things a child can do is quickly tell trusted family members that help is needed and provide information about where they are.
This is one of the situations for which the SOS feature in BT Conexa has been designed.
When a Child Needs Help Away From Home
Imagine that your child is returning from school, tuition or another activity.
Something unexpected happens. The child feels unsafe, becomes confused about the location, experiences a problem during the journey or simply needs family assistance immediately.
Calling a parent is usually the first option.
But there may be situations where making a normal phone call is difficult, takes additional time or the child wants to alert the family's trusted contacts quickly.
If BT Conexa is installed and configured on the child's phone, the SOS feature provides another way to communicate that help may be required.
How the BT Conexa App SOS Works
A registered BT Conexa user can open the app and use the SOS feature when assistance is required.
When the user initiates SOS, BT Conexa can send an emergency alert to the emergency contacts configured in the account.
The alert can include the user's current location so that trusted contacts receive useful information about where the SOS was initiated.
Instead of receiving only a message saying that something is wrong, the family can also receive location information that may help them understand where the person was when the alert was sent.
The availability and accuracy of location information can depend on the phone's location permissions, GPS, network connectivity and other device conditions.
A Simple Example
Suppose your child is travelling home and unexpectedly needs your help.
The child opens BT Conexa and initiates SOS.
